Three sixteen-storey tower blocks built as public housing in Phase I of the Chandless redevelopment area. The blocks were designed by the Gateshead Borough architect. They consist of 384 dwellings in total. Construction was approved by committee in 1960.

Four ten-storey T-plan tower blocks built as public housing as part of the first stage of a central area redevelopment plan. The blocks incorporate 196 flats and maisonettes in total and were built using traditional construction methods. Construction was approved in 1953.

St Cuthbert’s Village, Bensham, Gateshead

A complex of 14 tower blocks of six and eight storeys and an H-plan tower block of eighteen storeys, all with deck access. All were constructed as public housing as part of the St Cuthbert’s Village redevelopment scheme. The whole development has since been demolished except for the eighteen-storey block. The eighteen-storey point block consists of 85 dwellings. The three eight-storey blocks consisted of 96 dwellings. The ten six-storey blocks consisted of 144 dwellings. Other low-rise developments were included in the village. Construction was approved by committee in 1967.

The blocks were designed by the Borough Architect and proposed to include 2 two-bedroom (4 person) flats, 2 two-bedroom (3 person) flats and 2 one-bedroom (2 person) flats on each floor. The blocks contain 308 dwellings in total. Construction was approved by committee in 1968.

Two thirteen-storey tower blocks built as public housing.The blocks contain 194 dwellings in total. Construction was approved by committee in 1966. The blocks were designed by the Borough Architect and generally proposed to include 2 two-bedroom (4 person) flats, 2 two-bedroom (3 person) flats and 2 one-bedroom (2 person) flats on each floor. Together the blocks contain 194 dwellings. The blocks were proposed in conjunction with another four thirteen-storey blocks of the same design that were built at two sites close by - Waverley Rd and Harlow Green Lane. Both sets of blocks were approved for construction in 1968 and were built by the same general contractor.

Nursery Farm Estate, Deckham, Gateshead

Four seventeen-storey tower blocks built as public housing using the Skarne industrialised building system. The blocks consisted of 381 dwellings in total. Consruction was approved by committee in 1966; building was completed in 1968. The consulting architect and engineer for the development was John Poulson. All of the blocks were destroyed in 1987 as a result of their rapid deterioration and unpopularity.
