Twelve six-storey slab blocks and six seven-storey slab blocks, all with deck access, built as part of a public housing development at Hunslet Green. The blocks were designed by Martin Richardson of The Yorkshire Development Group (YDG) in association with the County architect, E. W. Stanley. The design layout was conceived as three clusters of courtyards grouped around a public park. The scheme was serviced by perimeter roads, which deliberately separated traffic and pedstrians. The overall height of the development remained fairly constant despite the variation in block heights. The YDG ‘Housing Mark I’ industrialised building system of heavy pre-fabrication in concrete cross wall structure was used for construction. The six-storey blocks provided a total of 210 dwellings. The seven-storey blocks provided a total of 140 dwellings. Construction was approved by committee in 1966 and commenced in November of that year. All of the blocks are now demolished.
