comobnet for Nokia

I met with Paul Coulton today from infolab21 at Lancaster University who has been working with a student to make the new Nokia version of comobnet.

I had some trouble with it on my N95 because I was using 2G sim card and was having problems with my GPS connectivity.

Paul showed me the app working properly on his Nokia and pointed out a couple of things about the way our database currently works.

1. If I have the username ‘Jen’, and change it to ’somethingelse’ for a while before going back to ‘Jen’ - the database will make two seperate users called ‘Jen’, rather than associating all the data with me. I guess this means that more than one person can have the same username if necessary, but it also means I don’t have a unique username I can refer back to. Paul mentioned that it might cause some problems with database size eventually.

2. The iphone sends null data when it has it, but the nokia doesn’t to save on bandwidth.

3. Paul correctly noted that the ‘mark’ function does not currently do anything yet!
